How the Comparison Works

Price per Unit

Unit price = price ÷ quantity in kg, l or pieces. A 500 g pack for 2.49 costs 2.49 ÷ 0.5 = 4.98 per kg; a 1 kg pack for 4.29 costs 4.29 per kg and is the better deal.

Percentage Difference

Difference = (unit price − lowest unit price) ÷ lowest unit price × 100. In the example, the 500 g pack is (4.98 − 4.29) ÷ 4.29 ≈ 16.1% more expensive.
