Remove Hidden Data from Your Photos

Every photo from a phone or camera carries hidden metadata called EXIF. It can include the exact GPS coordinates where the picture was taken, the date and time, and the device model. QodeCat EXIF Remover shows you which photos contain location data and gives you clean copies that are safe to share.

  • GPS warning: Photos that contain location data are flagged before you share them.
  • Lossless for JPG and PNG: Only metadata is removed; the image data stays byte-for-byte identical.
  • Batch cleaning: Process many photos at once and download them as a zip.
  • Removes EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments and PNG text chunks.

Why use this tool?

Protect Your Location

Posting a photo with GPS data can reveal your home, workplace or daily routine. Some platforms strip it automatically, but email, chat apps, forums and file-sharing links often do not. Cleaning photos first removes that risk.

Nothing Is Uploaded

An online privacy tool that uploads your photos defeats the purpose. Here, every file is read and cleaned locally in your browser, so your pictures never leave your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does removing EXIF reduce image quality?

Not for JPG and PNG. The tool removes metadata segments and leaves the compressed image data untouched. WebP files are re-encoded through your browser at high quality, which can change them slightly.

Q. Why does a cleaned photo look rotated?

Phones often store rotation as an EXIF tag instead of rotating the pixels. When EXIF is removed, viewers that relied on that tag show the photo in its original sensor orientation. Rotate it in an editor if needed.

Q. What metadata is removed?

For JPG: EXIF (including GPS), XMP, IPTC and comments. For PNG: text chunks, EXIF and the modification time. Color profiles are kept so colors look the same.
