Fix Turkish Text Typed Without Turkish Letters

Messages written on an English keyboard or a phone without a Turkish layout often lose their special letters: "Turkce karakter yok" instead of "Türkçe karakter yok". The Turkish Character Fixer puts ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş and ü back where they belong. It also works the other way and strips them, which is handy for file names, usernames or systems that only accept ASCII.

  • Add Turkish characters: "Bugun hava cok guzel" becomes "Bugün hava çok güzel".
  • Remove Turkish characters: ç→c, ğ→g, ı→i, İ→I, ö→o, ş→s, ü→u.
  • Highlighted changes: Every letter the tool changed is marked, so you can check it at a glance.
  • Copy with one click: Take the corrected text straight to your email, document or chat.

How does it work?

A Proven Statistical Method

The tool uses the well-known Turkish deasciifier algorithm by Deniz Yüret. For each c, g, i, o, s and u it looks at up to ten letters on each side and checks them against decision lists learned from a large body of Turkish text. That is why it gets "cok" → "çok" and "Istanbul" → "İstanbul" right without a dictionary.

Give It a Quick Proofread

Because the decision is statistical, most words come out right, but a few ambiguous ones can be read two ways, such as "ise" and "işe". The highlighted letters make those easy to spot. Your text never leaves your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How accurate is adding Turkish characters?

In our tests with everyday sentences, nearly every word came out right. Words that are valid both with and without the special letters (ise / işe, acı / açı) are where mistakes happen, so read the result once before sending it.

Q. Is my text sent to a server?

No. The word patterns are downloaded once with the page and the correction runs entirely in your browser.

Q. Does it change letters that are already correct?

Letters you typed correctly are usually kept, but the tool decides every c, g, i, o, s and u from its context, so in rare cases it can also change an existing Turkish letter. Changed letters are always highlighted.

Q. What does removing Turkish characters do with İ and ı?

The dotted capital İ becomes I and the dotless ı becomes i, so the text is plain ASCII that works in any system.
